Discovering photography
Your Following feed is for photographers you have chosen to follow. Explore is where you can wander beyond it and find unfamiliar work, visual ideas, equipment, and ongoing projects.
Open Explore from the magnifying-glass icon. Across the top, you can move between Explore, Members, Highlights, Series, Categories, Cameras, and Lenses.
Explore photographs
The main Explore page shows work selected from across the community. The Glass team curates this view, with some automation helping surface photographs worth considering.
Explore is separate from your chronological Following feed. Discovery never changes or reorders the work you chose to follow.
Search by subject, mood, or style
Photo search matches visual ideas rather than relying only on caption text. Try a subject such as "misty morning lake," a quality of light such as "golden hour portrait," or a scene such as "red umbrella on a quiet city street."
Photos, members, and Series use different information:
Photos searches visual content and concepts.
Members searches names, usernames, and profile information.
Series searches project titles and descriptions.
If photo results feel too broad, add a subject, place, color, light, or mood. If they feel too narrow, remove one detail. Search runs in Glass's system; Glass does not send your photos or queries to a third party to produce results.
Browse categories
Categories cover photographic subjects, genres, and techniques such as Landscape, Portrait, Street, and Wildlife. They make work discoverable without the spam and competition of open-ended hashtags.
Open Categories in Explore, then choose one to see photographs members added to it. When you publish, choose up to three categories describing the photograph itself.
The current community theme is marked Monthly Category. To take part, post a photograph fitting the theme and add that category during upload. At the end of the month, the team publishes a curated Highlight. It is an invitation to try a different way of seeing, not a contest.
Explore cameras and lenses
Open Cameras or Lenses, search for a maker or model, and choose the equipment to browse photographs made with it. These feeds can help with purchase research or show what photographers are making with equipment you already own.
Results depend on metadata included with each upload. Editing software can remove or rewrite EXIF, and new equipment names are reviewed before their feeds appear. See Sharing your work for metadata guidance and Glass and photography terms for definitions.
Find Series and ongoing projects
Open Series to browse projects from across the community. With no search entered, the page shows Featured Series chosen by the Glass team. Search by subject, place, or project name to find work such as a 365 project, photographs from Japan, or portraits made on film.
Series can appear on the dedicated page and in relevant feed entries. Their individual photographs can also appear in Explore, categories, and camera or lens feeds. To create or manage a project, see Sharing your work.
Find photographers to follow
Open Members to browse or search for a name or username. You can also find someone through a photograph, category, equipment feed, Series, or Highlight. Open their profile, look through their work, and follow them if you want future posts in your chronological feed.
