November's Monthly Category — Coastal

There is no shortage of shorelines and beach photography on Glass. And while we’ve done our best to give these images a good label, none of our existing categories quite fit the bill. Landscape is a reliable, albiet generic standby. We love a seaside Holiday, but that can get confusing when your vacation involves skiing, or when you need a category for some spooky mischief. Underwater goes a bit too deep, while Water casts too wide a net.

So this month we're introducing Coastal.

Now, this might feel like one of those locked-in, hyper-specific categories. But shorelines all over the globe are incredibly different. Palm-lined white sandy beaches are found along the equator. In several parts of the world, mountains meet the ocean creating a dramatic and sudden change in the landscape. There are deltas, marshes, swamps, and a whole host of colors when it comes to sand and water-side vegetation.

What we're saying is, don't limit yourself to the postcard version. But if you happen to find yourself daydreaming about warmer weather and slower days, we won't be mad either.

Bust out that metaphorical (or literal, good for you) SPF, grab a good bag, your suit and towel. Or take a peek at your archives and relive some vacation memories. It's high tide... Oops, we mean it's high time we head to the coast.
