The current earth status is a mess isn’t it? Credit where credit is due, we did recently complete a successful lunar flyby via Artemis II. And, on the ground medicine is having a surprisingly strong year in cancer research and disease prevention. But goodness ya'll, so many of the headlines are rough, and many of our stations and situations feel anything but certain.
So, what to do? We can be indifferent. We can move through life with any number of negative attitudes, from apathy to anxiety. Or, we can choose belonging and agency. To notice, to care, to act in whatever capacity is available to us.
The general vibe in this community seems to be the latter: connection and realistic hope. A quick glance at any one of our categories shows a diverse, incredible place, captured by intentional observers from all walks of life. When realities feel heavy, when we don’t like the collective direction our species takes, it’s nice to know there’s a space to go to remind us what’s important. Many stories on Glass are from people who work to conserve, educate, recreate, or even just simply participate in this world. The culture, the beauty, the biodiversity on display — there’s a lot of global care in this community.
We appreciate the can-do creative spirit you all share on the daily. It’s forward-thinking kindness the world absolutely needs. Despite the environmental, societal, and social problems our planet faces, there’s so much worth showing up for.
So, let's take a moment to celebrate our home through photography.
Happy Earth Day friends!
