Community Wins & Exciting News

Announcing a new member of the Glass team!Announcements

Member Updates

When Daniel stepped away from Glass last year, it gave us a moment to reflect on what community work at Glass should look like. He helped set the tone, and we’re grateful for everything he built with us. Since then, he’s gone on to co-found Good Fight, a fantastic indie photo book publisher. Their first release, A Surrender by longtime Glass member Markus Naarttijärvi, is an exceptional piece of art. It even won Book Photographer of the Year. We highly encourage you to grab a copy. Support independent publishing and have a gorgeous book from an uber talented member? Do it!

We're stoked about these successes for Markus and Daniel, excited to see where their work leads. Glass is, at its heart, a place for community. To exhaust an old platitude, when one of us wins, it's a win for all. And when creative endeavors find success, especially in this modern, unpredictable world, we celebrate. Congratulations to you both!

Introducing our New Operations & Community Manager

Over the last season, we’ve taken the time to rethink how we support our members and strengthen this community, especially behind the scenes. If you caught our recent Operator post, you’ll know we’ve been building new tools to help us run things better and more sustainably.

Now, we're excited to welcome another human back into the mix! Amanda, a member since 2021, brings a thoughtful, creative eye to everything she touches. She’s been quietly working behind the scenes as our Operations and Community Manager these past few weeks, and we’re excited to finally make it official. We couldn’t be happier to have her on the team.

Take it away, Amanda:

Hi, I’m Amanda, long-time member/fan of Glass. When I joined this platform four years ago, the atmosphere immediately felt different: a space full of talented photographers sharing not just their work but thoughtful conversations around it. The experience was clean, calm, and most importantly, kind. You all know this, you've made it happen.

There’s something exceptionally special about communicating through visuals, isn’t there? It gives us fertile ground for creativity. We shape images around feelings we can’t always put into words. And when gifted a safe space to share (like Glass) we often find we aren't alone in our thoughts. We find connection and solidarity. Photography has been that space of expression for me, as it has been for so many of you. And the fact that we can connect here, free of ads and algorithms, feels rare and meaningful.

On Glass I’ve met photographers from all walks of life. Professionals, amateurs, hobbyists — a diverse spread of people, connected through one medium. This community is such a source of inspiration, encouragement, and even enlightenment. I’ve discovered beautiful places, gained important perspectives, made friends, and gotten great gear recommendations. Major thanks on that last one, NOT a gear gal 💁🏻‍♀️ Photography has that power, and photography with community? Thrilling.

Jazzed, enthused, and grateful for this opportunity to continue in a more involved role. Drop me a comment or say hello! 🖤
