10 Things to Know About Glass

Glass is about photography. Full stop. Pun intended. Just following the photographers you love and sharing your own images in a photo-forward way. If you’ve been here a while, you know this platform is tailored for simplicity.

That being said, there are a few fun surprises tucked away, customizations and capabilities which make this space interesting, fun, and a genuine delight to use. Some you may have missed, some you may have forgotten, and at least one our own community manager didn’t know existed (true story).

Consider this a friendly re-introduction to the workings of this community. Without further ado, here they are!

1. Night owl or early bird? We’ve got you covered. You can switch your app appearance to Day or Night on iOS, or toggle it to follow your system settings. Settings > Appearance.

2. Fine-tune your notifications. Choose exactly what you want to hear about: comments, appreciations, Highlight updates, or all of the above. Every notification type is fully customizable. Settings > Notifications.

3. Patrons get extra perks. That includes some excellent custom app icon options and a fun announcement coming next month from Tom… which we can’t quite share yet.

4. We have a Widget. Did you know we have a Widget? Get said Widget.

5. Your Profile has an RSS feed. Read about this nifty feature here: https://glass.photo/highlights/profile-rss-feeds

6. Patrons can keep track gift codes. Under Profile > Settings > Invitations. See which of your gift codes have been used, and which are still sharable!

7. Blocking is available and you all are fantastic at keeping this community appropriate. We wish it weren’t necessary, but we understand there are rare cases where added privacy matters. Behind the scenes, Stefan has also built a robust automated system to catch inappropriate images and comments and keep Glass SFW. On the rare occasion something slips through, your reports have been invaluable. Truly, we appreciate you.

8. Curate your profile. You can hide photos from your profile if a particular image doesn’t fit your current aesthetic or vibe. Alternatively, your favorite images can be pinned to the top of your profile, showcasing the work you’re proud of.

9. Brand assets are available. Visit https://glass.photo/brand for assets you can use outside of Glass. While Glass participation may be paid, sharing your work beyond it isn’t. Use these to link to your profile, showcase your photography, or even use your public profile as a portfolio.

10. Recommend members for Spotlights. Community is at the heart of Glass. We do our best to stay on top of interesting members and projects, but if you discover someone who deserves a feature, email us and let’s make it happen.
