"In music, a "mora" is the smallest unit of measurable time. A brief pause between what comes before and what follows. Light has this quality as well. A window just after blue hour and before golden hour, when land and sky are tuned to the same frequency. A melding of color and light that lasts only a handful of minutes before giving way to daylight."
Todd Dominey, in his series Mora, compares the landscape of White Sands National Moment in Southern New Mexico, with the congruent qualities of music. The lines, curves, and open spaces move like waves, much like a well-composed piece carries a listener through sound and emotion. And just like speaking during a concert disrupts listening, too many words around his series would only interrupt the experience. Better to let these images flow without unnecessary commentary.
Viewing this series is a desktop activity. We highly recommend a large screen to avoid missing any part of these calm compositions. Enjoy!
