Sometimes, it just clicks.
You set a glass down in the right light, and a shadow catches your eye. You think, hmm, cool, and take a photo. Most of us might stop there. But Adam Arrowood kept going.
What began with a single image of a drinking glass and a sharp beam of light quickly evolved into a delightful photographic rabbit hole. In IKEA Glasses + Light, Adam explores how simple objects, in this case, IKEA glasses (shocking given the title), can transform into something striking with the right light and angle.
That first Series led to a second: IKEA Glasses + Light: Evolution 2, where he continues to follow the light and let it guide the work. By the time Evolution 3 arrives, the playful repetition starts to feel like a meditation. It's almost part fun hobby, part photographic niche, part… odd obsession (his words, not ours).
And in Evolution 4, Adam introduces color with thrifted votive holders and a few new shapes, adding an extra layer to the series without losing the clarity and charm of the original idea.
It’s simple. It’s joyful. And it’s a lovely reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere.
Thanks Adam for the reminder.
