Embracing the Absurd with Konstantins
To be aware is to pose questions.
Photograph by Konstantins
Konstantins has surrealism so dialed in that we don’t want to be too specific about it. The name of the game is ambiguity. Free will or instinct? Individualism or groupthink? Am I, or I am? Big topics, approachable visuals.
A successful study in surrealism poses more questions than answers. But one thing we’ve got zero questions about is Konstantins technical prowess and intention. Even if you aren’t interested in contemplating the existential, his images are worth looking at for their artistic skill alone.
Konstantins knows the power of empty space and how restraint can emphasize. Textures are layers he uses to guide the eye. Shooting in unforgiving light invites a dreamlike unease, while contrast mirrors black and white thinking — either/or in visual form. If that weren’t enough, Konstantin leans into the Rule of Thirds with confidence, then breaks it with surgical precision, reestablishing balance through bold shape, lines, and tone.
Monochrome strips away distraction. What remains holds the viewer’s gaze. We sit with what’s unresolved. We’re left to ponder.
Konstantins’ feed is a surrealist’s delight, and at the very least, a fresh example of being fully in control of compositions. His work is a thoughtful, skilled grip on nebulous human concepts.
