Say Hello to Series

Our take on albums, sets, and collections.Announcements

Series is finally here! Series is our take on carousels and albums — a collection of photos that you can organize, re-order and add to over time. They’ve been in the hands of Patrons for the last few weeks and we can’t wait to see what you make now that they’re available to everyone!

Series are an incredible tool to help you group and organize your photographs as you tell ongoing stories about your photography. Whether you’re documenting once-in-a-lifetime trips through the arctic or cataloging your daily 365 project, Series is the next step forward in how to share your photography online.

So how do you make one? Let's get into it.

Starting a new Series

To start a new Series, you just select the + button like always. We completely rebuilt the entire Glass upload experience for uploading multiple photos. You can select up to 10 photos at a time to upload either by dragging and dropping or selecting from the OS selector.

Series don’t have a total number of photos limit, but each batch is limited to 10 at a time. We start uploading immediately upon selection, and you can start editing the description, reordering the photos, and adding categories while they’re uploading. Once you’ve got your Series just the way you want it, hitting the Publish button instantly posts the Series.

Viewing a Series

So where and how does a Series appear? Your followers see them in their home feeds, complete with a nice set of up-to-three photos overlayed on top of the first image in your Series. Hovering over or swiping the main images reveals a bit more about the Series and tapping the Series photos will take you directly to the Series itself.

If you tap on the photo, you’ll see the same detail view you’re used to, but we’ve added a new Series section to the sidebar. This shows a preview of the rest of the Series, providing context of where the photo is in the sequence. Want to see more? Just tap or click on through to the new stunning Series detail page.

Series do not appear on your profile feed, in Camera, Lens or Category Feeds, or in Explore. Photos in a Series do, but the up-to-three photo overlay does not. The Series sidebar unit is still visible when you view the photo detail.

One of the magical parts of a Series is adding to it over time, and whenever you do, a new Series post appears in your followers feeds, letting them know that you’ve added to the Series.

Editing and Adding to a Series

To edit a Series, you navigate to the Series and then tap or click on the edit pencil icon. From here you can reorder photos in the Series, add more photos by tapping or clicking on the Add or Upload buttons, and even delete the Series. Deleting a Series only deletes the Series and not the photos in the Series, and reordering changes the photos on the Series page but not your profile’s photo tab.

There are two additional ways to add photos a Series. One is simply to use the + button to choose a photo, and then select the Series from new Series section in the sidebar. You can also easily add photos individually through the photo edit view which matches the upload panel for adding a photo.

Sharing a Series

Not only can you use Series to build a body of work, gather feedback, and collaborate with members internally, you can also share the beautiful Series page outside of Glass. Series are simple, beautiful, and easy to keep updated as you keep photographing. Sharing them is incredibly easy too. Just copy the URL or tap the share icon to send one anywhere.

Our slick new preview cards are automatically generated so you always know your latest photos will be highlighted.

Don’t take our word for it — look at some incredible examples of how our Patrons are already sharing their stunning Series with Glass.
