Forgot to post this one from vacation on Kauai last week. Love those clouds. 

My Z9 finally arrived! I really debated the preorder because it’s way overkill for what I do, but here we are. I took it out to catch the sunrise this morning, and it’s REALLY good... Absolutely no comparison to the Z7—especially the autofocus system. Of course, my favorite shot from today happens to be one of the few out-of-focus frames. 😂

I always wanted to try film processing in school, but never got around to it. This winter I’m fixing that. My plan is to develop my own B&W film at home and scan the negatives to print/share. I will probably develop my own prints at some point, but I’m holding off on buying the extra equipment for now to see if I want to start shooting film again. 

This is the first scan with my new negative scanner. I took this photo in Alaska in ~2002–almost twenty years ago!

Far-right extremists including members of Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer depart Portland today following clashes with anti-fascist counter-demonstrators.

Far-right extremists—including Proud Boys—are expected in Portland on Sunday. I took this earlier this year in Olympia, WA. The “OK” sign is a favorite of far-right trolls and white supremacists alike.

The extremist fringe in American political life is a tide, currently at its high water mark; they attach to mainstream movements to recruit and co-opt.

It’s important to remember that extremists are a minority, and that seeking to understand the legitimate concerns of our fellow citizens is the only path forward.
