Spotted this beauty while out for a morning walk along the beach. Cruising on a beach road, windows down, in a late 70’s (maybe?) Lincoln Towncar sounds like a nice way to spend a day!

Fun trail near my house, but I gotta admit, standing here was a little precarious! On the edge of slippery rocks right next to a 25-30ft drop. But the angle was better!

There weren’t any signs on this building to indicate what it even was, but, looks like they were closed! The morning light had this humidity glowing.

I’ve always loved the architecture of this old apartment building downtown, the V shaped windows are pretty interesting. On top of that, this little tree is alone along this long brick wall and always looks stunning in all seasons. This photo is about as boring as this scene can look. I’d like to come back at night with the lamp on, or early morning when this wall is catching some angled light, or perhaps if I’m lucky enough to catch an old car parked in one of those spots. 

I’m a sucker for dead trees. To bring more attention to this tree, I put a 10 stop filter on so I could rely on the wind to smooth out the grass and water a bit while keeping the tree itself crisp.

A photo like this only really works with certain attire. I’d like to thank this gentleman for just that.

I love to watch/listen to storms out over the ocean.

This is my first attempt at capturing lightning. I tried the 10 stop filter approach, too, but I don’t think it was dark enough for that approach.

Matte black is undefeated on its own, but especially when slapped on a classic Chevy.

Sand patterns at sunrise. All kinds of interesting things and shapes come to life when the sun is low on the horizon.

I know this rock looks placed, but the beach was actually littered with these everywhere. If I scaled back you’d see several more but I felt like it hurt the composition to include them 🤷🏼‍♂️

There’s something about flowing ocean water under a pier that never gets old.

Went out in the yard around midnight to take some photos of the “blood moon”. Space is crazy. I’m glad it was a crystal clear night.

I’m not sure what this room once was, but I can imagine it making a great studio or office space. 

It’s always that one tree out by itself (fog and Fall colors also help).

Light starting to sneak into this alley downtown… It’s amazing what nice light can do to an otherwise pretty boring scene. I see this alley all the time and it never looks this interesting.

Even in a small town, looking up with a camera can still provide some interesting options.

We recently stayed at a cabin up in the mountains and stopped by a local pizza place for dinner one night. This was the entrance (door to the right). It was freezing so the windows were somewhat fogged/frosted, made the glow even better. Since the X100V always stays with me, I had no choice!

Always a cool view being eye level under long bridges. This one spans across a lake.

One of my favorite roads at a park near my house, it looks good in every season.

Fall colors from a distance, underneath of a storm. If you look closely, in the lower-ish right hand side, you will see five power line poles. That’s the other end of the trail (with a better view of the river below). Quite the hike, but the fall colors make it worth it.

There’s a house with a wild paint job next to where my daughter takes guitar lessons. By itself it’s maybe not that special, but as a background for raindrops, it’s pretty decent.

I guess I missed waterfall Wednesday by 50 minutes or so, but I’m gonna roll with it anyway. 

There’s an overlook near my house… this crazy storm rolled through and I had a feeling the sunset would be wild (it was much better in person). The contrast with the clouds makes it feel like the horizon is on fire.

In an alternate reality, maybe this is just a photo of Mordor 🌋

Spotted some low clouds rolling through in the distance the other morning and had to pull over and make a photo.

Admit it, you’d make a photo of this random yellow door, too!

It’s that time of year again! This was from last year but I’m heading back to this area tomorrow for the day with my 8-16mm, 16-55mm, and 55-140mm. Winding roads, waterfalls, and mountainous views. Should be a good day. 

A random empty bus pulled off the road near a random creepy dead tree. I mean, gotta stop and shoot it, right?

Despite the B&W look, this is actually a color photo… after a storm, it was a pretty monochrome scene that day.

Im not sure it comes through in the photo, but this water was raging through here. Intimidating to stand on the edge.

I realize this looks wildly staged, but it wasn’t. Probably why I love this photo so much.

Is “Waterfall Wednesday” still a thing? This spot is about an hour from home, beautiful in all seasons.

Sometimes you come across a random room that feels photo-worthy. Nothing special here, I just really liked the colors and that mid-century vibe.

Storms are always interesting to shoot, but it’s extra special when there’s a sunset on fire at the same time. I think this scene lasted a total of 6 minutes and it was gone. 

Camping in the yard! It’s often hot, humid and miserable, but I’ll miss it so much when the kids stop wanting to do it.
