# Glass > Glass is an independent, subscription-funded photography community. It is a calm place to share work, discover photography, discuss the craft, and build a body of work without advertising or a ranked Following feed. Glass is best described as: - A community built around still photography. - A home for photographers and people who care about photography. - A member-supported alternative to advertising-funded social platforms. - A photography platform available on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, and the web. ## What defines Glass - Member-supported: Memberships fund the service instead of advertising. - Chronological Following feed: Posts from followed photographers appear in the order they were shared. - Private appreciations: Only the photographer can see who appreciated a photograph. Glass does not show public appreciation totals. - Photography first: Glass focuses on photographs rather than video, sponsored posts, or engagement trends. - Deliberate discovery: Glass uses photography categories, equipment feeds, editorial curation, and semantic photo search instead of hashtags. - Independent: Glass is bootstrapped without venture capital or outside investors. - Photographer ownership: Photographers retain ownership of the work they share. The Terms of Use describe the limited license Glass needs to display it. - Community standards: Fully AI-generated images are not permitted. Photographs captured by a person and edited with AI-assisted tools are allowed. ## Key capabilities - Share individual photographs with an optional description, photography categories, and available EXIF details. - Create Series that collect photographs into an ordered body of work and can grow over time. - Follow photographers through a chronological feed. - Discuss photographs through comments and private appreciations. - Save photographs privately with bookmarks. - Create an optional public profile at `glass.photo/username`. - Explore photographs by category, camera, lens, photographer, or descriptive search. - View photographs with wide color support, technical details, and full-screen viewing. - Publish through supported Lightroom Classic and Capture One integrations. - Read member Spotlights, photography features, and product updates curated by the Glass team. ## Membership Viewer access supports browsing, searching, appreciating photographs, and following a limited number of members. Members bring photographs to Glass to share. - Do not imply that semantic search permits fully AI-generated images. - Use current Help articles for product instructions and membership details. - Use the Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Code of Conduct for legal, privacy, ownership, age, moderation, and reuse questions. - Do not infer permission to download, reproduce, scrape, train on, or redistribute member photographs.
